New Delhi: The Congress Party on Saturday countered the Shiromani Akali Dal’s ( SAD’s) claim of it being ‘anti-national’ by saying that such a remark was unwarranted and ridiculous.
“The Congress which has fought for the country is nationalist to the core. Nobody can question it. Doubts have always been raised on parties like the Akali Dal. It is ridiculous that Akali Dal is blaming Congress and calling it ‘anti-nationalist’. Everybody would laugh at it and nobody would believe it,” Congress leader Rajiv Shukla told the media here.
Another Congress leader Jaiprakash Jaiswal said, “Truth is all the anti-Congress parties fear that it is going to come in power. They are attacking the Congress to stop its leaders. All this is a part of that.”
Accusing the Congress Party of being an ‘anti-national’ organisation, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday said that the grand old party is creating an alliance with the terrorist organizations, having links with Pakistan’s ISI, just for the sake of political gains.
He also accused the Congress Party for creating an alliance with the terrorist organizations, having links with Pakistan’s ISI, just for the sake of political gains.
“The Congress is showing its true colours and it is an anti-national party,” he said.
A delegation of Punjab Congress leaders led by party vice-president had earlier met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted a memorandum urging him to initiate a judicial probe into the killing of two persons in recent protests over alleged desecration of Guru Granth Sahib.
Rejecting to the CBI probe ordered by the Punjab government, the Congress leaders demanded an inquiry to be conducted by a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court. (ANI)
