New Delhi: Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the definition of nationalism should include the spirit to become a job giver instead of job seeker.
Sisodia, addresses educationists at the fifth convocation of Delhi Technological University (DTU), said the curriculum design teams of the top institutes should have something for introspection as they failed to make students the job creators.
“Until the top brass institutes like IITs and DTUs take a resolution that the students passing out will majorly be job providers, not job seekers, the curriculum design teams of the institutes should have something for introspection,” an official statement quoted him as saying.
“As a nationalist, the nation expects you to be techno-entrepreneurs instead of becoming job seekers only. That’s the greatest need of the country today in the era of growing unemployment,” he said.
A total of 2,099 degrees were conferred at the convocation and 1,647 under graduates, 383 post graduates, 69 PhDs and 2 chancellors medals were awarded, the Delhi government said.
The degrees were conferred upon scholars in the area of BTech, BTPT, MTPT, MTech, MBA, EMBA and PhD, the statement said.
Delhi Technological University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh, in his University report 2017-18, mentioned about the placement record of the university with a highest package of Rs 1.1 crore per annum and over 400 companies coming in for the placements.
