National technology day held at RCI

Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Avionics Research Laboratory based at Hyderabad celebrated National Technology Day on Monday. The Technology Day Oration was delivered by Dr Vijaya Bhaskar, Sc ‘D’, RCI on the topic “A Novel Umblical Retraction Mechanism”.
Dr S.K. Shivakumar, distinguished scientist and Director ISAC, ISRO, Bangalore was the chief guest for the event. In his address to the scientific fraternity, he shared his experiences of MARS Orbiter Mission and highlighted some of the first of its kind technologies which were developed in the country for the MoM mission. He spoke about the entire gamut of technologies right from Launch Vehicles to the Satellites, Path control, accuracies, communications, atmospheric effects, entry into mars orbit and about other various criticalities involved in the Mission. He said that DRDO and ISRO should work together with each other and exchange the technologies for the benefit of the country.
Prof V.S.Rao, Director BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, who was the guest of honour, appreciated the work carried out by the scientists for development of various technologies. He commended the efforts and initiatives for promoting greenery at RCI. He also admired Director RCI for promoting research in this institute and stressed that the research centre must have more tie-ups and work in synergy with the academic institutes to tackle the problems encountered by the research and production units. He said BITS and RCI should collaborate and work together in the advanced scientific areas and chalk out modalities for pursuing Ph.D. programmes in relevant areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Satheesh Reddy, Outstanding Scientist and Director RCI commended the kind of Research work carried out by ISRO team. In his address to the RCI fraternity he said we have many critical flight trials and challenges this year and RCI needs to develop many more advanced technologies to make our armed forces equipped with state of the art weapon systems in the world. He urged young scientists to take the lead and said collective efforts can transform RCI as one of the premier global Research Laboratory developing advanced avionics systems. Let all of us work together and rededicate ourselves in realization of our future goals.” (NSS)
