National Minority Convention tomorrow

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will kick off the 1-day National Convention to be held on minorities’ issues on January 6, at Hotel Merit. Union Minority Welfare minister K Rahman Khan and other dignitaries will attend the convention as chief guests.

Addressing a press conference here secretary All India Minorities Forum and secretary Pradesh Congress Jaber Patel told this. Present on the occasion were Congress leaders Messrs Khaleequr Rahman, S K Afzaluddin, Ateeq Siddiqui Khurram, Khaja Arifuddin and Javeed Ahmed.

Mr. Jaber Patel told that this convention is being organized to take the minorities’ issues to the parliament besides concerned authorities. The convention will mount pressure on the government for implementation of Prime minister’s 15 point programme and recommendations of Sachar Committee and to announce a sub plan for minorities.

On the question of holding the convention on a hotel build on Waqf land he asserted that one of the objectives of holding the convention in Hotel Merit is to enlighten the participants that the hotel has been built on Waqf land.
