National level Karate player sexually harassed by traffic constable

Rohtak: A traffic Police constable was arrested and suspended on charges of sexual harassment of 21-year-old national Karate player in Rohtak by the District Collector.

Complaining about the incident she experienced when she boarded an auto after finishing her karate coaching she said, “A traffic police constable boarded the same auto-rickshaw and sat beside me. He said he wanted to befriend me. I said no and refused to talk to him, but he persisted and started touching me.”

Adding “I then assaulted him in self-defense and asked the auto-rickshaw operator to take the vehicle to the women police station,” she maintained.

To her surprise, when Neha approached the Police Station to file a complaint against the harassment, she was told, “all we can do is to humiliate him,” by the women police station SHO Sunita, Tribune reported.

It was after the matter came into the notice of SP Pankaj Nain, the complaint was filed against the constable.

SP had also lodged an FIR while the woman SHO Sunita was transferred to the Police Lines.

The Police has booked the constable under various sections of sexual harassment.

When contacted, SP Nain said, “the constable has also been placed under suspension and arrested.”
