National leaders greet nation on Id-ul-Zuha

New Delhi, November 16: The President, the Vice-President and the Prime Minister today greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.

“May the festival bring all the communities and religions of India together in a celebration of our composite culture and civilisation,” President Pratibha Patil said in her message.

The President conveyed her cordial greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens and to Muslim brothers and sisters, in particular, on the occasion.

Vice-President Hamid Ansari remarked that the festival celebrates the spirit of sacrifice and promotes the feeling of compassion and love to serve the poor and needy.

He called upon the people to celebrate the festival with joy of sharing, charity and serve the cause of humanity.

In his message, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that Id-ul-Zuha is an occasion to remember the spirit of supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim.
