Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali today stated that national development is possible when farmers get results of welfare schemes.
Participating as a chief guest at a seminar on “State Economic Growth through mechanized Agriculture” at Vishweshwaraya Bhavan at Khairatabad here, the deputy chief minister exhorted the agriculture scientists, engineers and students pursuing high degree courses to shift their focus on research activity that will prove handy for peasants in a big way. Mahamood Ali noted that TRS Government aims at extending total support to the farming community in the state. The Chief Minister K Chandarsekhar Rao is determined to offer complete help to farm community. We are well aware that any state will witness growth when the farming community is empowered in terms of money, Ali stated.
Though some political parties are trying to make baseless allegations the Government will not neglect the Agriculture sector, he remarked. Time is ripe to provide latest technological know-how, farm practices of global level and research results to help the farmers reap in better benefits, he observed. Unless all the state governments vie for giving top priority to farm sector with all inputs, subsidies, loans, fertilizers, seeds and adequate power supply our productivity will not increase, he said.
Mahamood Ali stressed the need for giving minimum support prices to their produce besides providing room for storing their produce in the godowns. He expressed hope that the farmers will get benefit from agriculture research, he said. Walamtari Director Dr Yella Reddy explained about modern drip irrigation practices. (NSS)
