Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana had erected a very tall national flag at Sanjeevaiah Park near Hussain Sagar on the occasion of 2nd Telangana Formation Day on 2nd June. Within 48 hours of its installation it was damaged due to heavy airflow. It was therefore removed.
It may be noted that Airport Authority of India had also objected for its installation since it was not suitable for the planes flying from Begumpet Airport. The flag was of 66 Kg and it cost Rs. 1.35 lakh. It was made of polyester.
