Hyderabad: National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi had written to all the writers to submit a declaration that their writings do not contain anything criticizing the Govt. or against the national interest. These forms were sent to Urdu writers who were desirous of getting financial assistance from the council. They were required to sign this declaration with the signatures two witnesses. Urdu writers felt it very humiliating.
Prof. Shahnaz of University of Calcutta said that it is against the freedom of Expression. She heavily criticized this order. The council has now removed this form from its website.
