National Conference on Equal Opportunity at MANUU today

Hyderabad: Equal Opportunity Cell and Civil Services Examination Residential Coaching Academy of Maulana Azad National Urdu University in collaboration with the Department of Women Education, Al-Beruni Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy and Department of Social Work is organizing a one day national Conference “Understanding Equal Opportunity – Concepts and Practice” on 16th January 2018. The inaugural session will be held at 9 am, CSE Auditorium, MANUU campus.

In light of the challenges being faced by several communities in the job market, there is debate in various states in the country on the importance of providing equal opportunity to all groups. The Patidar movement in Gujarat and the Dalit assertion in Maharashtra are manifestations of this concern. To discuss these issues, MANUU is organizing the conference.

Eminent scholars and administrators like A. K. Khan, Flavia Agnes, G Sudhir, Faizan Mustafa, Abusaleh Shariff, Sheela Prasad, Sangeeta Kamat, Shahida Murtuza, Afroz Alam and Abdul Shaban will discuss among other issues gender, women’s rights, Marriage and talaq, reservations, social and legal issues.

The Conference will bring together Institutions, Government Departments, NGOs and practitioners who have experience in running Equal Opportunity Cells in their institutions. The theme of the Conference is divided into 3 sub-themes: Equal Opportunity for Women, Equal Opportunity and inclusion and Equal Opportunity for Minorities.
