National Commission for Scheduled Castes member Kamalamma asked the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governments to provide necessary protocol for the commission.
She said that the Collectors were attending the District level review meeting held by the Commission. “We will issue summons in future if the same situation continues. This has become as a hurdle to resolve the petitions. Mainly, the Andhra Pradesh Government’s response is not up to the mark towards the Commission,” she said.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, Kamalamma informed that since the last March, out of the 169 petitions received by the SC commission, 26 cases were settled and remaining are in process. She informed that during the recent visits by the commission in both Telugu states on June 11, 12 and 15th, it received petitions from different departments.
“During our visit to Cherlapally Jail in Hyderabad, we came to know that many of under trials were unable to get bail due to financial reasons. And also inmates of that jail are working for low remuneration. We requested the state government to look into these issues for the early solution,” she said. (INN)
