National Award time for Arindam…

Mumbai, September 14: This management guru is managing to do pretty well in the world of cinema. Arindam Chaudhuri and his Planman Motion Pictures seem to be on a roll after being given the National Award last year for his Bengali feature film Faltu, it’s again National Award time for Arindam…

This time for his film, The Last Lear, which won the National Award for 2007 for best feature film in English. Shefali Shah also won the best actress award for her performance in the film.

Speaking about the award, Arindam says, “It is the recognition of our commitment to good cinema, and it sure feels great – since Shefali also got an award for The Last Lear! I would have perhaps felt better if Mr Bachchan had also got one for his amazing performance.”

However, after the critically acclaimed Mithya and The Last Lear, this year, Planman has a series of comedies lined up for release. First up is Habib Faizal’s Do Duni Chaar, which stars Rishi Kapoor and will see Neetu Kapoor making her comeback. Next up is Saurabh Shukla’s I’m 24 with Ranvir Shorey and Rajat Kapoor and finally, Rituparno Ghosh’s Sunglass with Konkona Sen Sharma. “Yes, after the awards, this will be the year of the laugh riots,” says Arindam, who will soon be starting work on his next directorial venture, which will be based on a historical event.
