National anthem in schools in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, January 15: The Orissa government today issued a directive asking elementary and secondary schools in the state to sing the national anthem during morning assembly.

The state’s patriotic song ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ would be sung every Saturday after prayer, School and Mass Education minister Pratap Jena said while issuing the directive.

‘Sarve Sham No Janani’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Sare Jahan se Achha’ would also be sung in schools after prayer during morning assembly, he said.

The directive also asked the teachers to be present during the session.

“Teachers should reach school by 10:00 am and morning assembly will start at 10.05 am and classes from 10.30 am. On Saturdays, classes will begin from 7:00 am,” the directive said.
