New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on Thursday condoled the demise of Lance Naik Hanamanthappa, saying that the nation would never forget the brave soldier’s sacrifice.
Expressing his grief, BJP president Amit Shah tweeted, “I join millions of countrymen to extend my condolences to braveheart Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. Nation will never forget his sacrifice.
Hanamanthappa, who hailed from Betadur village in Kundagol taluk of Dharwad district, passed away at Army’s Research and Referral Hospital at 11.45 a.m. today.
BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said that Hanamanthappa will inspire the youth to serve the nation.
“It is very sad that he has passed away. The way he came out alive after being buried under snow for six days, we had hoped that he would win this battle also. More such Hanamanthappa’s will be born in the country to serve the nation,” he said.
A medical bulletin released by Army’s Research and Referral Hospital earlier today had said that Lance Naik Hanamanthappa, who was miraculously found alive after remaining buried under huge mass of snow for six days at the Siachen Glacier, slipped into deep coma despite ‘maximal life support with aggressive ventilation and dialysis’.
Lance Naik Hanamanthappa was flown to Delhi on Tuesday morning in a special air ambulance and admitted to the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital. (ANI)
