Narayana urges CM to avert municipal workers strike

CPI State Secretary Dr K Narayana on Friday urged the State Government to hold discussions with the municipal employees’ unions, which have decided to go on indefinite strike from Saturday and find a solution to their demands.
In a letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the CPI leader reminded that nine unions of municipal employees and workers have decided to go on indefinite strike from February 8 throughout the State. The government has been holding discussions with the municipal employees unions, but failed to resolve their demands.
Dr Narayana said strike by municipal workers would lead to grim atmosphere showing a severe impact on public health. He urged the Chief Minister to direct the officials concerned to find a solution to the demands of the employees unions and avert the strike. (NSS)
