Napoli sack Donadoni for poor results

Edorado, October 07: The struggling Serie A club Napoli have sacked their boss Roberto Donadoni and replaced him with Walter Mazzarri.

“Napoli announce they have released Roberto Donadoni from the role of head coach and appointed in his place Walter Mazzarri,” the Italian club said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The club wants to thank Donadoni for the work done in these months and wish him the best of luck for the future,” the statement added.

The decision was made after a 2-1 defeat against AS Roma last Sunday which left Napoli with seven points in the15th place in the 20-team Serie A table.

“It was a decision that had to be taken in order to give a new spark to the Azzurri season and for the future of the team,” Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis said.

The 46-year-old Donadoni had come to Napoli from Edoardo Reja in March this year.
