Tokyo: Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing China Open after getting past Danielle Rose Collins of America in straight sets in their round-of-32 clash here on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old did not break much sweat as she registered a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory over Collins in a one-sided second-round match that lasted 53 minutes.
The recently-crowned US Open champion put in a stellar performance as she won 70 per cent of the points against her opponent’s serve, earning six break points in the match.
Earlier, Osaka had defeated Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan to advance into the second round of the tournament.
Osaka will now take on 10th seeded German player Julia Gorges for a place in the quarter-final of the China Open on October 3.
