New Delhi, December 28: Around 15 per cent of the 2.07 lakh customers who had booked Nanos have cancelled their bookings, car dealers reveal. Delivery is taking too long and the customers are not prepared to wait. When Tata Motors’ Nano was launched in March, crowds thronged to showrooms to catch a glimpse of the Rs 1 lakh car. Of the 2.07 lakh initial applicants, 1 lakh were chosen by random selection – to whom Nanos would be delivered first. Deliveries started in July. “A number of those who expect to get their Nanos around March next year or later are cancelling bookings,” said Krishan Bansal, proprietor of Raghuvanshi Enterprises here. “There are other new cars in the market for which people don’t have to wait,” said another dealer at A1 Motors. “People don’t mind shelling out a bit more to get their car immediately.”
He refused to give the exact number of cancellations.
