New Delhi, July 16: The world’s cheapest car Nano, dubbed as the Rs 1 lakh wonder, will be dearer for its new customers with Tata Motors deciding to pass on the increase in input costs with immediate effect.
The company today said it will increase Nano prices by 3-4 per cent, which translates into a hike ranging between Rs 3,700 and Rs 6,894 (based on ex-showroom, Delhi prices).
Tata Motors has so far delivered 45,129 units till June out of the first one lakh bookings. It has begun intimating customers, who had retained their booking but are not among first one lakh, that their cars are coming up for delivery albeit at higher prices.
The company had said that the first one lakh customers are price-protected and they would get their cars at the announced price of Rs 1.23 lakh-Rs 1.72 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
