Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said some names for the chiefs of the Central Information Commissioner (CIC) and Central Vigilance Commission’s (CVC) post had been recommended to President Pranab Mukherjee.
“Today there was a meeting for the CIC and the CVC and the matter was discussed and some names were recommended to the President of India. And after receiving that, the final list will be announced by the President of India,” Kharge told ANI.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting over the appointments at his official 7, Race Course Road residence.
A meeting regarding the same had taken place earlier in May. However, it had remained inconclusive.
The post of the Chief Information Commissioner has been lying vacant for over nine months after Rajiv Mathur’s term ended in August 2014.
There is also a vacancy of three Information Commissioners in the CIC.
Previous Central Vigilance Commissioner Pradeep Kumar completed his term in September last year. (ANI)
