NALSAR University to host film festival

Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad in association with the NALSAR Alumni Association, The Centre for Legal Philosophy and Justice Education and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) will host the first ever NALSAR Film Festival, 2012 on August 25 and 26 at its campus, Shamirpet. The NALSAR Film Festival is being organized in recognition of the need to create meaningful dialogue between socially committed artists, intellectuals and the student community in order to fully comprehend India’s complex socio-political reality, a release here today said. ‘Aimed at embracing the arts in an effort to broaden the ambit of traditional legal notions of justice. The festival is centered around the idea that diverse voices ought to be recognized and are screening, therefore, films like Jashn-e-Azadi and Partners in crime which deviate from conventional standpoints and are bound to engender discussion’. The NALSAR Film Festival shall bring together independent award winning directors such as R. Amudhan, Deepa Dhanraj , R.R. Srinivasan, Chalam Bennurkar, Nakul Sawhney, Paromita Vohra, Subasri Krishnan, Debolina Dutta and Oishik Sircar to screen their work at NALSAR and follow it up with discussions with intellectuals on the issues raised in each documentary, the release added.
