Nalini transferred from Vellore prison to Puzhal jail

Chennai, June 28: Nalini Sriharan, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, was today shifted from Vellore prison to Puzhal jail in the suburbs of Chennai following complaints of harassment, and she claimed the transfer was a “stepping stone” towards her early release.

44-year-old Nalini, who completed completed 19 years in jail on June 13, was transferred from high security Vellore prison to Puzhal amid tight security.

Quoting Nalini, her counsel P Pugalenthi said, “Her shift to Puzal jail was a stepping stone towards her early release from prison. She has been fighting for her early release from prison for the past five years.
