Naidu wants CCTV cameras in polling stations

Hyderabad, April 30: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the Election Commission to arrange high resolution CCTV cameras instead of webcams in the polling stations in Kadapa and Pulivendula byelections on May 8 for better monitoring.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Naidu referred to the past record of the two constituencies when there was large scale use of money and muscle power, electoral malpractices and scaring away of voters.

Mr. Naidu hailed the decision of the Election Commission to use webcast technology and videography in all booths and supply of CDs of the same to political parties on demand. But he wanted installation of CCTV cameras for monitoring through internet.
