Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the residuary State of AP is just a “two years old child”.
The Chief Minister was reviewing the governance of his two years rule with district Collectors at two-day Collectors Conference commenced here today.
Addressing the conference, Chandrababu Naidu said the collective efforts of the officials have increased the State’s revenue by 3.1 per cent. He expressed satisfaction on the functioning of the district Collectors. Naidu said, “We have fixed a target to make Andhra Pradesh No 1 in the country by 2029” and asked the officials to cooperate with the government to help achieve the target. The government was giving importance to protect water resources and the recent rains have helped to increase 1.51 per cent of underground water.
During the two-day Collectors conference, the State government would review the progress and achievements so far and set the agenda for 2016-17 financial year. This is the seventh conference in the last two years. The two-day conference is to be held in seven sessions and will have lengthy discussions over the reforms needed for effective administration. These sessions will also address backwardness and ensure more transparency and accountability in implementation of various schemes. The first session will start with the welcome address by Anil Chandra Punetha, CCLA. The introductory remarks will be put forth by K.E. Krishna Murthy, Deputy Chief Minister (Revenue) and Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, Minister of Finance. Later, S.P Tucker, Chief Secretary would speak on the double digit growth, District Domestic Product and on the Municipal Development Project. At the end of the first day, the District Collectors will share their experiences and best practices at the open session.
The second day of conference will mainly concentrate on Investment, Infrastructure and Industries. The session will highlight the investment tracker web portal, Industries investment, Agri-business, Tourism, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban infrastructures. As for the Urban Development, ratings will be given for 110 municipalities and will discuss on the implementation of AMRUT scheme. The agenda for the last session will be Farmer Producers Organisations which focus on the District level and Commodity plan. A plan for 2016-17 Kharif will also be laid out. A presentation will also be made on the Vermi- compost policy, Micro Nutrients, Drip/Horti irrigation. A presentation by Smart AP Foundation is also scheduled. The conference will conclude with a review on Law and Order in the State. (NSS)
