Naidu trying to sabotage Palamur, Dindi projects: Harish Rao

In spite of an year passed after united State bifurcation, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is hatching conspiracies against Telangana State development, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao alleged.

Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here on Friday, the minister slammed his AP counterpart Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao for trying to create hurdles to the Palamur Lift scheme and Dindi project saying that Telangana Government has no permission for its irrigation projects. Harish Rao accused Naidu Government of coming in the way of Telangana State, which was planning to complete one irrigation project in the backward Palamur district noted for migration of labour in search of livelihood. Chandrababu, who adopted the district has failed to develop it and only added to the woes of migration, he alleged. The minister sought to know whether the AP Government completed all the formalities for Handri-Neeva, Pothireddypadu, Pattiseema and Polavaram.

The Chandrababu Naidu government was raising objections to Palamur Ranga Reddy lift scheme through Krishna Rriver, which falls under HMDA limits. “When Madras, capital city of the neighboring Tamil Nadu can get Krishna waters, why not Palamur district?, he asked.

Ridiculing AP Irrigation Minister Uma Maheshwara Rao’s remarks against the two projects, Harish Rao said as per Bachawat Tribunal, Telangana will get 40 tmc waters from any project, including Pattiseema lift scheme to draw 80 tmc by the AP government, he said He also criticized Naidu saying he managed to get permissions from Centre by violating norms for Polavaram project despite objections from Odisha and Chattisgarh States.

He pointed out while then YSR Government had prepared a detailed project report for Dindi project, Kiran Kumar Reddy Government had issued a GO for survey of Palamur scheme. “We are taking up these old projects to provide irrigation and drinking waters to three districts and Naidu was unhappy at this development”, he charged. Harish also asked the Telangana TD leaders L Ramana and Errabelli Dayakar Rao whether they support the two projects for Telangana people or remain henchmen of Naidu, who was bent on creating hurdles to these projects.
