Congress MLC Mohammad Farooq Hussain on Sunday alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to sell the existing welfare schemes of Congress Government in a new package.
Speaking to media persons at MLA Quarters, Farooq Hussain said that Naidu’s nine-point programme was nothing but a replica of schemes already in implementation. Accusing Naidu of having lost his memory, he said that several schemes like free power for farmers, old age pensions, housing for poor, Arogyasri, four per cent reservation for Muslims and other welfare schemes were successfully being implemented by the Congress party since it came to power in 2004.
However, the Congress MLC alleged that the TDP chief was trying to sell the same schemes to people in a new pack. He also asked Naidu to clarify whether the announcements of giving 100 seats to Backward Classes and other offers for minorities were approved by the party’s politburo or they were figments of his imagination.
Farooq Hussain claimed that people have lost faith in Naidu’s promises and they would not believe him even if he walks on his knees or crawl to prove his conviction.
