Naidu sticks to 2-eye policy: Telangana issue

Hyderabad, August 07: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu will remain as equivocal as ever on the issue of bifurcation of the state. This will be the party’s policy, going forward.

In other words, his two-eye policy is in tact, despite the drubbing the party has received in the Telangana region in the recent by-elections.“As both Telangana and Andhra regions are important me, I have taken a neutral stand on the bifurcation issue.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is a sub-regional party, limited to Telangana region. It can take a stand, but I cannot because we are present in both regions,” he said.

Naidu, who conferred with Telangana and Andhra leaders in the last two days, said: “I want to ask Chandrasekhar Rao on whose side he would be if there is a dispute between two districts in Telangana region.” He took exception to the TRS targeting Telugu Desam Party for its stand on bifurcation. “We are in the Opposition.

Why target us without bothering to ask the Congress which is in power in the State and the Centre. It is they who have to take a stand,” he said.

“As the TDP is wedded to the welfare of Telugu people all over the State, it has drawn up several agitational programmes. Accordingly, it will take out a padayatra in the Telangana region to build public opinion on the need to end the injustice being meted out to Telangana region by Maharasthra with its illegal projects, including Babli,” Naidu said.

He, however, did not say whether he would take part in the padayatras. He said he had constituted a committee with E Dayakara Rao as the chairman to chalk out the agitation against Babli.

He also set out the agenda for the coming months. The party would fight not only on Babli issue, but also against illegal mining operations and leasing out of iron ore mines in Bayyaram to Rakshana Steels, issues relating to Social Welfare department, prohibition and communicable diseases.

The party has set up a helpline, phone no. 30699999, on which people could lodge their complaints on various issues. The complaints would be studied and the future course of action would be decided.
