The extensive general body meeting of Telugu Desam party here on Monday named party supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu’s proposed padayatra as “Padayatraku Vasthunna Mee Kosam”. The former chief minister would start his much talked about padayatra from Hindupur in Anantapur district from Mahatma Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2.
Addressing the meeting of his party workers at NTR Bhavan, Naidu said he would start his padayatra after performing special pujas in the local Hanuman temple at Hindupur. He said that he would cover Rapthadu, Penugonda via Gutti for 13 days in Anantapur district alone. Naidu said the TDP campaigning was aimed at exposing the Congress government’s malfunctioning and its total failures on all fronts. He also alleged that the ruling party was resorting to anti-people policies like hiking prices of diesel, power, milk and RTC bus fares. On the diesel price alone, the government would earn Rs 800 crores, he said, adding that the government was implementing 18-hour power cut in the rural areas and five-hour shutdown in the urban areas.
Alleging that the FDI was aimed at driving away the retail kirana merchants out of business, Naidu said there was total opposition to the Walmart in the US. In that case, how could the UPA government welcome it, he asked and said it was a part of the politifcal agenda.
Earlier, the formr chief minister suggested two names for his padayatra -– Jana Chaitanyam and Vastunna…Mee Kosam. (NSS)
