Naidu slams Centres over agri policy

Guntur, November 09: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday slammed both the Centre and State government for adopting faulty export and import policies for agriculture.

Talking to media persons after launching Rythu Porubata at Chilkaluripet in Guntur district, Chandrababu Naidu said the false export and import policies of Centre and state government were causing huge loss to agro-based industries in the state.

Due to lack of a policy and proper vision, Naidu said the cotton and jute farmers in the state suffered a major loss and many agro-based industries are shutting down their units. He said due to the irresponsible attitude of officials and Ministers concerned the farmers are facing pathetic situation and were forced into a debt trap.

The Opposition leader demanded that the government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy step down for its failure to address the farmers’ problems and for not fixing remunerative price for their produce. He said that he would continue his fight for farmers until they get all benefits from government and make the agriculture a profitable business.

Naidu said the government would concede to farmers’ demands if they fight on their issues in an organised manner. He said the Rythu Porubata was aimed to bring to the attention of Centre over the farmers’ woes in the state.

Earlier, Naidu had a meeting with spinning mill and cotton traders and they submitted a memorandum to him. He assured them that he would write a letter to Centre over their problems.
