Hyderabad, January 1: The Telugu Desam party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, who organised “Rythu Kosam” meet here on Thursday, was aghast over his party senior leader and former minister, Mr Makineni Peda Rathaiah, announcing his resignation to the party on Friday and switching loyalty to the former Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
A former Parliamentarian, Mr Peda Rathaiah announced his resignation to the TDP on Friday morning and called on Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s residence at Hyderabad. He also announced that he would be joining the proposed party of Mr Jagan. Mr Rathaiah’s announcement was not unimaginable as he had already given hints of joining Mr Y S Jagan’s proposed party.
The dissident TDP leader, Mr Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, of Nellore district reportedly mediated between Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr Peda Rathaiah. The former Kadapa MP might empower Mr Peda Rathaiah to look after party affairs in Guntur district. The resignation of Mr Makineni, known for commitment, may dealt a blow to the Telugu Desam party to some extent.
