TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday visited the ongoing building demolition work taken up by the GHMC on the direction of the High Court. The controversial building was illegally constructed by Ravidranath Reddy, former Kadapa Mayor and brother-in-law of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Redy, on Road No. 2 in the posh Jubilee Hills area.
The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Monday morning started demolishing the building constructed by Ravindranath Reddy after encroaching upon the land belonging to Women’s Welfare Society. The former Mayor of Kadapa is the maternal uncle of YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The High Court gave the direction to the GHMC to demolish the illegal structure following a petition filed in the court by the aggrieved women welfare society, which alleged that the building was constructed after encroaching upon its land.
The TDP president went to the site and inspected the demolition work. He also enquired with the aggrieved persons whose land was grabbed by the brother-in-law of late YSR. Eliciting details from the victims, the TDP chief praised Neeraja Rao for courageously fighting a legal battle with the dreaded land mafia. Naidu said the people in the State still shiver on hearing the word ‘Kadapa’ due to the atrocities of late YSR.
Alleging that land mafia of Kadapa resorted to land grabbing in several places in the State capital with blessings of YSR government, Naidu said his government had successfully curbed rowdies and goondas in the State with iron hand. He also urged the State government to protect its lands by installing caution boards at its sites and keep the encroachers at bay.
Former minister and TDP Greater Hyderabad president Talasani Srinivas Yadav and other leaders accompanied Naidu. (NSS)
