Naidu-Farmers meet on Nov. 17

On Sunday, Agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao said that there will be a meeting between farmers and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on November 17 in Hyderabad and suggested that farmers bring their issues to the notice of Mr Naidu. He asked farmers not to sell their land in a hurry and make good use of the land pooling scheme.

Mr Pulla Rao and irrigation minister D. Umamaheswara Rao clarified various doubts of the farmers during an interaction, addressed farmers in a bid to allay concerns over the proposed land pooling system and explained to them the advantages of being in the capital region.

Farmers led by village sarpanch D. Subba Rao gave consent letters to the ministers during the meeting. Earlier the ministers conducted a meeting with farmers in Tulluru where all party leaders and farmers agreed to give lands for the construction of the new capital region are Y Junction at NRI Hospital to Prakasam Barrage on the eastern side, Borupalem to eighth mile on IRR on western side and Autonagar Y junction to 16th mile on IRR form the southern boundaries of new capital region.

“Farmers were ready to part with 50 per cent out of their land and demanded that their families be provided with health insurance, regular maintenance allowance; some farmers demanded that they be provided with 1,200 square yards of developed plot and another 200 square yards in the commercial zone. Doubling of the current lease amount of Rs. 25,000”, Anamolu Satyanarayana, a farmer of Lingayapalem village, said

He added, “Farmers in the river bed should be provided a special package including, an annual lease amount of Rs. 60,000, a job to every family, and those who cultivate assigned lands should be provided the same package as that of registered lands.”
