Naidu exhorts farmers for anti-government agitation

Kadapa, November 04: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday called upon farmers in the state to come on roads with their problems and agitate against the State Government until it addresses them.

Talking to media persons after commencing the Padayatra as part of Rythu Poru Bata in YSR Kadapa district after offering special prayers at the famous Chinnamandam mosque, the TDP president slammed the government for not responding to farmers’ woes in spite of the gravity of the situation. He alleged that the Congress government was still dilly dallying over the drought relief measures and utterly failed in providing relief to the farmers.

Stating that the farmers in the state are fed up with government’s indifferent attitude, Naidu asked the farmers’ community to come to roads and agitate. “Until the farmers come to roads and agitate against the government, they will not get justice,” he stated. If the farmers agitate unitedly and organize themselves for redressing their problems, he said the government would bow down to their demands.

Warning the government of serious consequences if it neglects farmers’ problems, Naidu reiterated that he would continue his fight for the cause of farmers until they get due justice and their problems get resolved. He demanded that the government announce compensation of Rs10,000 per acre to farmers whose crops were damaged this Kharif season due to power cuts and deficit rainfall.

The TDP chief also demanded that the government provide interest free loans, reschedule of loans and implementation of Swaminathan Committee recommendations on Minimum Support Price for farm produce.

Naidu commenced his padayatra from Chinnamandam Pirlakanu village of Rayachoti Assembly segment after interacting with the farmers and labourers on their issues.
