Naidu doses his eyes to vertical divide in TDP

Hyderabad, March 04: Leader of the opposition and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu confined himself to his chambers in the State Legislative Assembly today while his party MLAs from the Telangana region boycotted the session demanding state’s bifurcation and their Seemandhra brethren exhibited placards in the House demanding that the state remain united.

Naidu associated himself neither with the Telangana MLAs nor with Seemandhra MLAs. On the other hand, he was busy meeting party MLAs on the forthcoming Legislative Council elections.

After the Assembly adjourned for the day, the TDP MLAs from the two regions met separately to work out their strategies. Even the food was brought from two different hotels for them. MLAs of both the regions prepared strategies as per Naidu’s plans.

The Telangana Telugu Desam Party Forum (TTDPF) observed that the TDP flags were not seen at some places during the recent rail blockade programme. “The meeting felt that TDP should participate in any programme for Telangana besides chalking out its own programmes.

TDP activists should carry party flags while participating in the programmes,” a Telangana MLA said.

TTDPF convener N Janardhan Reddy said that it was painful to see that TDP Seemandhra MLAs displaying placards in the House demanding United Andhra. “When we boycotted the Assembly session, the Seemandhra legislators rose in support of united state,” he said.

The Seemandhra TDP MLAs too met in the Assembly and decided to stall the proceedings in favour of United Andhra. “It is the Centre which has to resolve the stalemate in the state. When Telangana agitators are shouting ‘Jago, Bhago’, it is for the Centre to protect the interests of the citizens,” party MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu said. “There is no administration worth the name and no GOs are being issued by the government. All developmental works came to a standstill. It is high time the Centre acted to clear the uncertainty,” Muddukrishnama Naidu said.

Interestingly, both Telangana and Andhra MLAs offered to resign from the Assembly for their respective causes. “If the Centre does not take a pro-Telangana decision, the Telangana TDP MLAs are preapred to resign,” Janardhan Reddy declared.

“We are ready to quit to press our United Andhra,”Muddukrishnama Naidu said. But, the party chief remained unmoved and non-committal, and continued to focus his attention and energies on the party programmes.
