Naidu deplores slow pace of work at Polavaram

AP Chief Minister  N. Chandrababu Naidu today reviewed the progress of the Polavaram Project at his residence.

While reviewing the presentation, the Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the remaining plant and machinery not reaching the project site yet.  Equipment such as penta concrete batching plants, putzmeister 12 Cum Surge Crete, Putzmeister Telebelt, Putzmeister Agitator, concrete trucks, water chilling plants and etc are at various stages of transit. While some of these should have arrived at the site some weeks back it was noted by the Chief Minister that some of the equipments are stranded at the ports. The Chief Minister said the officials should give top priority and concentrate on machinery procurement and suggested that monitoring be done regularly.

With regard to radial gates fabrication, the officials informed the Chief Minister that 300 MT of steel was already at site and another 2200 MT of steel will reach by April 15 in a phased manner. The officials said ”1st jig will be completed in three days and the 2nd  will be completed by March 20.”

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of spillway concrete works. From February 8 to March 12, 2,728 lakh cubic meters of spillway concrete works were done and 6.36 lakh cubic meters of earth work completed. The balance quantity with regard to spillway earth work is 254.84 lakh cubic meters. (NSS)
