Naidu declares 15 Assembly seats to Muslims

Telugu Desam party president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday declared that his party would earmark 15 Assembly seats to the Muslim Minorities in the State.

The former chief minister, who arrived in the district as part of his “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra, has proclaimed that the farmers would be granted interest-free loans if his party returns to power in the next elections.

Accusing Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy of out-shadowing even infamous Roman emperor Nero, who had coolly fiddled while Rome was burning, Naidu said the Chief Minister remained careless even when the toiling farmers were groaning under a plethora of problems. The former chief minister demanded that the Kiran government help the farmers by ensuring Rs 5,000 for quintal of cotton and Rs 10,000 for quintal of turmeric as support price.

The TDP chief said the government should have a clear policy on the purchase of agricultural produce to ensure remunerative prices to the farming community who toil day-and-night to raise crops. He also warned that he would be constrained to go on hunger strike in the Jammikunta Market Yard if the State government failed to respond on his demand within a week.
