Naidu, Chiranjeevi condemn police firing on fishermen

Hyderabad, July 14: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and Praja Rajyam Party chief Chiranjeevi today strongly condemned the police firing on agitating fishermen in Sompeta in Srikakulam district.

The leaders demanded that the government should pay an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the families of the persons killed in the firing.

“The police firing on innocent villagers agitating against the setting up of thermal power plant is most unfortunate and inhuman. The government is to be blamed for this,” Naidu said.

He asked the government to provide adequate medical care to the persons injured in the firing.

Chiranjeevi said three of his party MLAs will visit Sompeta to console the families of those killed and injured in the firing.
