Naidu asks BSY to drop Reddy brothers

New Delhi, December 03: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asked Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to drop Gali Janardhan Reddy brothers from the ministry for illegal mining activities by the company owned by them.

Accusing owners of the Obulapuram Mining Company Gali Janardhan Reddy brothers of indulging in illegal mining activities in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka and dictating terms in both the states with the ill-gotten money, Chandrababu said that Karnataka Chief Minister has totally surrendered before the mining mafia.

Referring to the recent developments in the BJP Government in Karnataka, Chandrababu said: “Yeddyurappa is afraid of Gali Janardhana Reddy and his brother Gali Karunakara Reddy.’’ Chandrababu said he would fight the Reddy brothers with the support of like-minded parties till the issue reaches a logical conclusion.

He met Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad to garner support to fight against the illegal mining.

The TDP leader said that he would convene an all-party meeting in the second week of this month to discuss the illegal mining and mining policy in the country.

Accusing the Andhra Pradesh Government of taking a lenient view on the OMC, Chandrababu demanded action against the ministers and officials concerned.

He suggested that a senior counsel from Delhi should be engaged to argue against the petition of Gali brothers in Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Advocates a separate agriculture budget: The TD leader advocated a separate agriculture budget to mitigate the suffering of the farmers in the country.

Participating in a national convention, the former chief minister underlined the need for evolving a vision to ensure food security in the country.

He asked the farmers to assert their rights to make the Government listen to them.

“Lakhs and lakhs of farmers assembled in Delhi against the sugarcane ordinance which led the Government to scrap it. This is the only way to revolt and this is the only way to make the Government listen,’’ he added.
