Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday accused the State Government of neglecting the schemes meant for people’s welfare.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of marathon State Committee meeting with party leaders at NTR Trust Bhavan, Naidu expressed serious concern over the increase in power tariff and rising prices of essential commodities following increase in petrol and diesel prices. He said that the repeated hikes in prices of all commodities have put additional burden on common people making their lives miserable.
Naidu blamed both the Centre and State Government’s wrong policies responsible for rising prices of essential commodities. He warned the government that the TDP would intensify its agitation against power tariff hike if it fails to revoke its orders.
The TDP chief alleged that the State was being ruled by mafia gangs and described Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy as a `spineless’ leader before the Congress High Command.
Expressing serious concern over the ground water level touching rock bottom following indiscriminate sand mining in some parts of the State, he said that the government should take steps to tackle shortage of drinking water in the ensuing summer in villages. He also expressed concern over the farmers losing lands in the name of Special economic zones.
Naidu also came down heavily on the State Government for transferring ACB Additional Director Srinivasa Reddy to Customs Security bowing to pressure of Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, who was allegedly involved in the liquor syndicate. He said that the people in the State would teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party in the ensuing by-elections.
The meeting was also attended by former Rajya Sabha member N Harikrishna.
