Hyderabad: The Congress activists from Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency staged a dharna in front of the State party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan demanding that the AICC field a local candidate from the Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They raised slogans that no non-local leader should be fielded from the seat. They also said the development of the constituency was stalled due to the presence of a non-local candidate as MP.
The party workers raised slogans that they would go on fast-unto-death in all the Assembly constituencies falling under the limits of the Lok Sabha seat if a non local leader was fielded by the party high command this time too. They also warned that they would not extend any kind of cooperation to the non-local candidate of the party in the elections. Later, the activists handed over a memorandum to TPCC vice-president Kumar Rao in this regard.
