Hyderabad, April 04: Senior Telangana Telugu Desam leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy yesterday threatened to move the Supreme Court if the Centre failed to cancel the appointment of Justice BN Srikrishna as chairman of Financial Sector Legislative Reforms Commission constituted by the ministry of finance.
Talking to newsmen at the TDLP office here, Janardhan Reddy, along with MLA K Jaipal Yadav, said people of the region believed that Justice Srikrishna was rewarded for submitting the ‘most biased, prejudiced, unprofessional and inappropriate’ report on Telangana.
He said a letter would be written to prime minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to cancel the appointment immediately. “Justice Srikrishna acted as an agent for those who wished to subvert the Telangana cause. He is being rewarded for submitting a report favourable to some sections of the ruling Congress. We believe that he is now being used by the Central Government for some other gains. We demand immediate action on the above.” Janardhan Reddy took strong exception to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s statement during the Chittoor district centenary celebrations that his home district (Chittoor) was more backward than Telangana some areas. He challenged the chief minister that he was ready to prove the ‘backwardness’ of Telangana. In reality, several lands in Telangana were sold away to take up developmental works in Rayalaseema. The chief minister, who was talking about various irrigation projects in Chittoor, remained ‘silent’ on the controversial Babli project (being constructed by the neighbouring Maharashtra state) despite knowing that it would adversely affect the interests of the people of Telangana, the TDP leader said.
