Nagam threatens to go on hunger strike from Jan 17

Stating that no works have been started at the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project in Mahabubnagar, BJP leader and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy has threatened to go on indefinite hunger fast from January 17 if works are not started immediately.

Speaking to media persons at the BJP headquarters here on Tuesday, Nagam informed that today he visited the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project to verify the claims made by Energy Minister C Laxma Reddy stating that works on the project have started from January 5. Accusing the minister of giving a false statement, he said no works have started till date. He said he would take an all-party delegation to the project site and would undertake an indefinite hunger strike from January 17. He said he had also written a letter to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao in this regard.

Nagam alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not serious about development of Telangana State. He said KCR is blaming AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu or the Centre to cover up his failures.

The BJP leader also alleged that the Water Grid project was a big scam in making. He said that the project is being initiated only to receive huge kickbacks from the pipe manufacturers. He demanded that the government should call for open bids if it was honest. (INN)
