Telangana Nagara Samiti president Dr. Nagam Janardana Reddy lambasted the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao for giving council ticket to Varada Reddy, who had attacked students fighting for Telangana.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he questioned if KCR had not found anyone who worked for Telangana state with commitment, to nominate for the council. He also lashed out at the JAC by stating that it was acting in a dictatorial manner. He also said that a victory to TRS would not necessarily mean that it would pave the way for Telangana.
Nagam has alleged that Varada Reddy got student attacked and questioned KCR why a common candidate was not fielded in the MLC elections. He reminded that though students had attacked him in the Osmania University, he had not complained to any one. He said instead, he even appealed to the then Chief Minister K Rosaiah not to have cases filed against the students who had attacked him.
It may be mentioned here that some students had attacked Nagam when he visited the Osmania University as a member of the TDP. He fell down in the attack. Students then warned him that they would not tolerate if he came to them while being in the TDP led by Chandra Babu Naidu.
Nagam also said that it was wrong on the part of the TRS to state that MLC elections were referendum on the Telangana issue. He said there should not be dictatorial trends in a movement for a cause. It may be recalled Nagam has been frequently attacking the TRS and the JAC also. He has appealed to all those fighting for Telangana to come onto a platform. (NSS)
