Hyderabad, March 13: The Telangana Telugu Desam Party Forum has accused Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal of making attempts to fuel differences between the people of Telangana and Seemandhra regions with his provocative remarks.
This was evident from his reported statement that formation of separate Telangana State would result in frequent recurrence of the incidents like the one witnessed on Tank Bund on Thursday. “Whenever things appear to be settling down, Mr. Rajagopal makes provocative remarks,” TDP MLA A. Revanth Reddy said.
Optimal solutions
Replying to queries at a press conference here on Saturday, he criticised Mr. Rajagopal for reportedly claiming that the Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee had made “recommendations”. The committee had in fact suggested ‘options’ as optimal solutions . Forum convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy said the State government should take full responsibility for the violence and vandalism of statues on the Tank Bund. In spite of the repeated assurances that the Million March was a peaceful event, the government unleashed repression, which in turn, resulted in the incidents.
Criticising the government for registering cases against innocents, he said the cases should, in fact, be registered against Chief Minister Home Minister, Director General of Police and City Police Commissioner as it was their failure.
“The event has shown the strong aspiration of the people for a separate State.”
