Hyderabad, May 24: The in-fighting among the Telangana TDP leaders showed no signs of abating with MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy, K Harishwar Reddy and Jogi Ramana on Monday staying away from the meeting of the Telangana Forum which dubbed Nagam as an agent of Jaganmohan Reddy and sought action against him.
The TDP Telangana Forum on Monday passed a one line resolution condemning the “anti party activities” of Nagam Janardhan Reddy and urged party president N Chandrababu Naidu to take disciplinary action against him. The forum, however, spared former deputy Speaker Harishwar Reddy and Adilabad MLA Jogi Ramana saying that they had not criticised Naidu while Nagam was “acting as an agent of YS Jaganmohan Reddy.”
Briefing the media after the meeting on Monday evening, forum chairman E Dayakar Rao said that Nagam was given utmost respect in the party and was almost considered a shadow of Naidu. He had enjoyed important posts both in the government and party and till recently, was the PAC chairman.
According to Dayakar Rao, Nagam has been exhibiting a different behaviour all of a sudden. “Till March end, he never actively participated in any T agitation and as convener of the T Forum, did not convene meetings to chalk out any action plan.” Rao also alleged that Jagan had met Nagam recently and discussed a possible tie-up between the two and that the two leaders already had business links.
As PAC chairman, Nagam held several meetings to review irregularities in Jalayagnam but never went on field visits for reasons best known to him. “All these factors clearly establish the ‘nexus’ between Nagam and Jagan and hence, the forum has sent a one line resolution to Naidu to initiate action against him.
Nagam, Harishwar Reddy and Jogi Ramana have been demanding that Naidu write a letter to Union home minister P Chidambaram stating that the TDP is in favour of carving a separate T state. The trio had even refused to hold meetings under the party banner and carry the party flag until Naidu accepts their demand.
Meanwhile, Harishwar Reddy shot off a letter to Telangana T Forum chairman Dayakar Rao questioning the purpose of constituting the TDP T Forum. He said Rao needs to explain whether the forum is for the purpose of chalking out strategy to fight for separate state or fight the trio. He said they had only highlighted the feeling of the T people that TDP had no clear stand on Telangana. “How can that be construed as an act of indiscipline,” he asked.
These three MLAs have also decided not to participate in the meeting to be organised by the TDP T Forum at Karimnagar on Wednesday.
