Telangana Nagara Samithi founder and Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday criticised Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu for undertaking “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra in Telangana region.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly’s media point here, Janardhan Reddy said that despite so many requests, the TDP chief has adopted an adamant attitude and did not clarify his stand on separate Telangana. He said by conducting the padayatra in the Telangana region, Naidu was trying to test the patience of people in the region. He said Naidu’s words could not be believed and he could make any statement to gain political mileage.
The Nagarkurnool MLA also criticised the Congress party and said its leaders were known for frequently changing their stand on Telangana issue. He said that the Congress party has wasted the time by constituting the Srikrishna Committee to study the demand seeking statehood for the region. He alleged that the Congress-led UPA at the Centre was delaying the formation of Telangana on pretext or another.
Demanding that the ministers from the region resign from their posts, Janardhan Reddy said that the ministers’ recent visit to New Delhi was an eye wash. He said leaders like Union Minister Vayalar Ravi could not decide on Telangana, he described the ministers’ visit as a futile exercise. Stating that suicide by nearly 900 people for the cause of Telangana failed to move the ruling party leaders, he said that the Congress Government has tried to suppress the movement by foisting false cases against the Telangana leaders.
