Hyderabad, April 30: Deviating from the party line, rebel Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy has decided to go ahead with his first public meeting in his Nagarkurnool Assembly segment on May 9.
Stating that the meeting would be organised sans TDP flags, Nagam said all those supporting the cause of Telangana were most welcome to the meet.
However, the rebel TDP MLA claimed that the meeting was being held in accordance with the party line.
As TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu gave full freedom to carry forward the Telangana movement, Nagam seems to be taking advantage of it in organising his own meeting.
Sources said that Nagam’s meeting had no approval of Telangana TDP Forum or the party. It is for the same reason Nagam is planning to conduct the meeting with Telangana flag.
Sources close to Nagam said portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Ambedkar and NTR would be put on display on the dais which means party president N Chandrababu Naidu would be sidelined in the meeting.
Nagam’s supporter and Parigi MLA K Hareeswar Reddy said after Nagarkurnool, the next meeting would be held in Parigi Assembly segment.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of Telangana TDP, Motkupalli Narasimhulu and E Dayakar Rao, are opposing Nagam’s meeting.
They said the meetings to be held by Nagam had no permission from the Telangana TDP Forum.
“I will attend public meetings convened by the TDP but not any other in the region,” declared one of the Telangana TDP seniors, pointing to fissures in T-TDP, with some of the party leaders supporting Nagam and others Chandrababu Naidu.
