Nacharam Inspector suspended in mobile leakage data

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Friday suspended Nacharam police station Inspector M Srinivasa Rao, who involved in leakage of call data record of the mobile phone of a social activist, Vasireddy Chandrabala, from his duties.

the commissioner took this action after the Cyberabad police have reportedly completed investigation into the leakage of call data record of the mobile phone of Vasireddy Chandrabala.

“An internal inquiry conducted by the Cyber Crime wing of the commissionerate found that the Nacharam police station Inspector M Srinivasa Rao had acquired the password of Malkajgiri DCP email ID through the latter’s camp clerk,” the report stated.

“Since the Inspector was working for clues in a murder for gain case, he was tracking mobile phone particulars of several suspects. In good faith, the clerk had given the DCP’s email password to the Inspector,” the investigating officer said.

However, Srinivasa Rao stated that he had no mala-fide intention in obtaining call data record of Chandrabala.

“The journalist in question didn’t even meet me and he had sent a text message over mobile phone requesting for the CDR of a mobile phone stating that anonymous persons made threat calls from that number,” the Inspector reportedly told the investigators.

It may be mentioned the Cyberabad Crime Station police has registered cases against K Yadagiri Reddy, senior correspondent of Sakshi and M Srinivasa Rao, Inspector of Nacharam Police station following complaint lodged by Vasireddy Chandrabala that the programmes telecast in Sakshi channel aimed to damage her dignity and reputation by making public the confidential information of call details of her mobile phone.

The police registered the cases against Yadagiri Reddy and Srinivasa Rao under the provisions of IT Act, Section 24 of Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Section 5 of Officials Secret Act.

Meanwhile DGP V Dinesh Reddy has transferred leakage of call data record of the mobile phone of a social activist, Vasireddy Chandrabala to Crime Investigation Department. (INN)
