NAC on recruitment drive

New Delhi, June 16: The National Advisory Council, headed by Sonia Gandhi, is on a recruitment drive and has appointed an IAS officer as its Joint Secretary.

After constituting a 14-member body, the high profile council is now busy filling up staff vacancies.

Koppula Raju, a 1981 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the NAC for a period of five years, official sources said.

The Union Cabinet has already sanctioned a 35-strong staff including a Secretary level officer to the NAC, constituted in March four years after Gandhi quit as its Chairperson in the wake of the office-of-profit controversy.

The posts sanctioned include a Secretary, an Additional Secretary and Joint Secretaries.

The Department of Personnel has now sought officials and staff on deputation including two desk officers and personal secretaries and personal assistants for NAC.

The NAC has been tasked to act as a link between the government and the ruling coalition to monitor implementation of various key flagship programmes.
