Missouri: United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that North Korea has begun the process of dismantling a key missile site.
Trump, who addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention here, said the US was pursuing a new future of security and peace in Asia.
“We are pursuing the denuclearisation of North Korea and a new future of prosperity, security and peace on the Korean Peninsula and all of Asia,” CNN quoted Trump, as saying.
With regards to the repatriation of mortal remains of the US soldiers killed in the Korean War, Trump said the process “seemed to be going well.”
“We are also working to bring back the remains of your brothers in arms who gave their lives to Korea and I hope that very soon these fallen warriors will begin coming home to lay at rest in American soil,” he said.
Trump also thanked the war veterans for their duty to the nation and the sacrifices they made for the country.
Last week, a US military newspaper report said North Korea was willing to return the mortal remains of 55 American soldiers who were killed during the 1950-53 Korean War.
An official from the ‘Stars & Stripes’ newspaper had said that Pyongyang gave the green signal to Washington D.C.
to fly out the mortal remains of the American soldiers from the country, which would be the first repatriation since 2007, Yonhap News Agency reported. (ANI)
